From 2002 to 2005
SUMMA stands for SUstainable Mobility, policy Measures and Assessment. SUMMA was funded by the European Commission (DG TREN).

SUMMA had several objectives:
  1. Assessing the scale and scope of sustainability problems in the transport sector.
  2. To define and operationalise sustainable mobility and transport.
  3. To develop a system of indicators for monitoring sustainable mobility and transport.
  4. Evaluate measures related to European transport policy and other policies that can be used to promote sustainable mobility and transport in regions and cities.
