The "red cheecks, big-headed" cycling tour in Antwerp
02/07/2021
On Friday 2 July we left for Antwerp with about twenty people from our TML staff. Some took the train from Leuven, others rode their own bicycle to the Central Train Station. When we arrived there we were welcomed by Stijn and Lieven of Antwerpenize. Both the sun and our morale were high, and after everyone was provided with a bicycle, they took us on their "Red cheeks, big-headed" bike ride right through Antwerp. We drove past existing and planned spatial projects, (un)finished bicycle infrastructure, and both blunders and showpieces in and around the centre of Antwerp. While we were crossing Antwerp, we also received professional explanations from some of our colleagues about the renewed traffic light arrangements at certain intersections. The tour ended at the Port House, where we could enjoy a fresh seasoning. In the evening we returned to the Central Train Station. Some had already gone home, others decided to have something to eat in an Indian restaurant nearby. The menu was vegetarian, simple, but authentically Indian spiced and very tasty.
It was well worth the effort and again a successful activity!
A big thank you to all the colleagues that attended!
