Bodart Square Leuven

From 2014 to 2015
TML supported Palmbout's design for the Bodartplein redesign by conducting traffic engineering analyses and dynamic simulations, focusing on the multimodal function of the intersection and the integration of bus traffic.

The city of Leuven and the Department of Roads and Traffic Flemish Brabant are planning the complete reorganisation of Bodartplein, especially the area around the intersection of Koning Boudewijnlaan and Tervuursevest. In the process, this urban gateway will be spatially fitted better into the urban fabric and a number of urban functions will be additionally integrated into it.

Important here is the multimodal function of this important junction as a city gate and as an interchange on the Leuven Ring.

TML supported Palmbout - who made the urban design - in two areas: the design of the traffic organisation of the interchange as well as the evaluation and optimisation of its functioning with traffic analyses and dynamic (Vissim) simulations of the elaborated solutions. Specific attention was paid to rationalising the traffic surface and integrating bus traffic as an interchange node between the ring lines and radial city lines.
