TML carried out a detailed analysis of traffic flow on the realigned Small Ring Road in Brussels, using microsimulation software Quadstone Paramics to assess the impact of an underground tunnel and new connections.

Plans to improve the traffic situation in Brussels by reconstructing parts of the inner ring road in Brussels have existed for some time. One option is to provide a completely underground tunnel between Place Louise and Porte de Namur, with no connections to the above-ground service roads Waterloolaan and Gulden Vlieslaan. These avenues will be redesigned. In addition, a new underground connection will be provided between Place Louise and to Place Stephanie. Using the microsimulation software Quadstone Paramics, TML made a detailed analysis of the traffic flow on this reorganised infrastructure.
