TML worked as a subcontractor on the road works impact management hatch for the construction of the Verapaz bridge, which connects Muidelaan with Afrikalaan and is intended to relieve the busy traffic around the Dam Gate. In collaboration with Witteveen+Bos, TML developed the phasing of the works and ensured the preservation of passages for cyclists and pedestrians.
The yet-to-be-built Verapaz bridge will connect Muidelaan to Afrikalaan via the Handelsdok. It will form the final piece of a new connection between the R40 and the R4 and relieve the area around the Dampoort from heavy road traffic. Witteveen+Bos is supporting AWV in drawing up the specifications and the tender; as a subcontractor, TML worked out the roads works impact management part of the specifications. TML worked out the phasing of the works in consultation with W+B's structural engineering experts, and where relevant to the nuisance, the desired execution method and organisation of the work zone were discussed.
The works will be organised so that cyclists and pedestrians can always pass through the site zone. For each phase of the works, possible diversions for car traffic and flanking measures were indicated. Special points of interest, such as the passage for emergency services and the accessibility of all functions adjacent to the work zone, have been elaborated.
