TML investigated non-vehicle measures to reduce CO2 emissions from passenger cars. This led to a list of possible measures, including ecodriving and traffic management systems, with an estimate of their contribution to achieving the 2030 CO2 emission targets, based on existing studies and the TML's MOVEET model.
Following a previous project for ACEA on CO2 emissions from trucks, TML investigated non-vehicle measures to reduce CO2 emissions from passenger cars in the post-2020 era. This resulted in a list of possible measures and a detailed overview of the selected measures.
The list of measures considered includes
- eco-driving,
- traffic management systems (ITS-based),
- road infrastructure,
- biofuels,
- Emission Trading System (ETS),
- autonomous fleet renewal,
- vehicle taxation based on CO2 emissions,
- vehicle labels, and
- tyres.
Based on existing studies and models (including TML's own MOVEET model), the contribution of these measures to meeting passenger car CO2 emission targets by 2030 was estimated.
