ECOSTAND

From 2010 to 2013
The ECOSTAND project developed an international assessment methodology for ITS investments through a collaboration between the EU, Japan, and the US. TML helped improve modelling tools and evaluation methods, leading to a joint research agenda and roadmap for international standardisation.
The ECOSTAND project, formed around a working group comprising Europe, Japan, and the United States, ensures that future ITS investments and policy decisions can be made on the basis of accurate and detailed knowledge of their impacts and according to an internationally approved assessment methodology. This came about through a continuous dialogue between the EU, Japan, and the United States, where we made a high-quality European contribution in defining a common research agenda. Through cooperation and exchange between the three areas, we learned from the experiences gained in Japan and the United States in modelling tools and assessment methods. Finally, we defined a common agenda for future research and provided a roadmap towards the international standardisation of methodology.
The project had several steps, each characterised by a short preparation and overview phase, followed by an international symposium and ending with a joint technical report.
