Mobility Plan for the Leuven transport region
19051
From 2019 to 2023
Flanders is divided into 15 transport regions to better align mobility at local and Flemish level, with representatives on each transport region council. TML, in collaboration with Arcadis and Common Ground, prepared a detailed public transport plan and an integrated regional mobility plan for the Leuven transport region.
Since 1 January 2019, Flanders has been divided into 15 transport regions. This new level of consultation - between Flemish and local - should ensure that mobility is better coordinated within those regions and at the Flemish level. Each transport region has a transport region council that includes representatives of the Department of Mobility and Public Works (MOW), the Agency for Roads and Traffic (AWV), De Lijn, and the local authorities.
For the transport region of Leuven, TML developed a comprehensive public transport plan as part of the basic accessibility decree. By modelling different scenarios with advanced traffic models, an optimal approach was worked out. In addition, TML drew up an integrated regional mobility plan, in which no fewer than 128 multimodal measures were proposed. Each of these measures was given specific priorities and a time schedule, drawn up in close cooperation with regional partners. TML was responsible for developing the action plan and the public transport component.
The public transport plan and integrated mobility plan were approved at the transport region council.
