Environmental Impact Report (MER) R0 East
21009
From 2021 to 2024
This project concerns an environmental impact report for the redevelopment of four interchanges on the R0 and the E411, examining the cumulative and local impacts of several proposed alternatives. TML is responsible for the environmental impact assessment and for carrying out microsimulations.
This project is an environmental impact report, mobility discipline, of the refurbishment of the four major interchanges on the eastern part of the R0 and on the E411: the intersections Vierarmen and Leonard, the Jezus-Eik entry/exit, and the Groenendaal complex.
In this project, we primarily investigate whether there are cumulative effects of the redesign of the four junctions. We do this for the various alternatives proposed. Next, we study the local effects of the proposed alternatives for the four junctions separately. Finally, we study the effects of a chosen alternative for each node on a micro-scale.
The result is twofold:
- An approved plan-environmental impact report (EIA) that contrasts both the cumulative effects and local effects of the different proposed alternatives of the four nodes and proposes mitigation measures for them.
- An approved project EIA of a chosen route of the four nodes (i.e., a combination of the chosen alternative per node).
We combine the different alternatives proposed for each node into scenarios. We then choose specific indicators to assess the impacts and thus weigh the scenarios against each other. Some indicators are assessed qualitatively, others based on results from the macroscopic traffic model conducted by Mint. We will compile this analysis in a plan EIA (expected in September 2021) that will assess the different scenarios against each other based on the chosen indicators.
We will then assess the effects of a chosen alignment of the four nodes based on micro-simulations that we perform with Vissim software. This part will be carried out in 2022.
TML is responsible for the environmental impact assessment, mobility discipline, and for carrying out the microsimulations. To this end, we deploy our certified EIA experts and our specific experience in microsimulations.
