Plan-EIA A8 Halle

24029
De Werkvennootschap is restructuring the A8 in Halle to improve traffic flow and liveability, with plans to replace traffic lights by a single access and exit ramp. TML supports this project by analysing the mobility impact within the EIR plan study.

The A8 in Halle has three intersections with traffic lights. Those intersections cause traffic jams, unsafe situations, and reduced liveability in the region. This is why De Werkvennootschap is working on a redesign plan for the section between the canal and the junction with the R0. The plans include replacing the traffic lights with a single access and exit ramp, which should improve traffic flow and safety on the A8. This will also change internal traffic in Halle.

The project is still in the start-up phase. Three scenarios were developed, with common features such as connection to the road network and cross-connections. As none of the scenarios fits within the current planning framework, an integrated planning process is being launched to create a Regional Spatial Implementation Plan (GRUP in Dutch).

For this process, a plan EIR study is being carried out to analyse the environmental impacts. TML is taking on the mobility discipline to support the further development of this infrastructure project. We are using various traffic models on a regional and local scale for this purpose.
