Road works impact management Noorderlijn Antwerp

From 2015 to 2019

TML provided the road works impact management approach for the Brabo 2 project in Antwerp, which includes the tram connection North Line and roadworks. TML supported Tramcontractors in phasing the works, organising BLVC consultations, and drawing up traffic and signalisation plans, as well as communication.

The Noorderlijn (more info at www.noorderlijn.be) aims to provide a smooth tram connection between the city centre, Eilandje, and the north of the city. In the future, for example, the tram will serve the Red Star Line Museum, the MAS on Eilandje, and the new Park & Ride near the junction of Noorderlaan with the A12 from the city centre. The underground tram under Turnhoutsebaan (the Reuzenpijp) will also be extended and will connect to the Frankrijklei.

A number of roads along the route of the Northern Line will be given a new look. Among others, the Northern Slate will be given a facelift, as well as Rooseveltplaats and Operaplein. Many intersections will be improved and made safer.

TML supported Tramcontractors, the consortium of contractors, in the road works impact management approach to the works. We helped work out the phasing of the works, organise the BLVC (Accessibility, Livability, Safety and Communication) consultation process, and draw up the BLVC plans. We also drew up the V-plans for the temporary traffic lights, participated in drawing up the signalisation plans, and supported communication.
