TML contributed to the TransMob project by analysing and interpreting a large amount of mobility data. The collected data provide insights into people's travel behaviour and daily choices and show various opportunities for offering tailored mobility services.
TML collaborated on the TransMob project, where we co-analysed and interpreted a large amount of mobility data. 542 people recorded 26,300 trips to and from Antwerp over ten days. Together they covered 327,000 km, making these commuters the largest multimodal test panel in an urban environment.
Anyone who thinks that phenomena such as big data, open data, ubiquitous data, crowd sourcing, etc. are pure hype is wrong. The mobility data collected within TransMob give us an illuminating look at travel behaviour, people's daily choices, etc. And that is just the tip of the iceberg: just think, for example, of the various possibilities for providing customised mobility services.
