TML analysed NOx and particulate matter emissions from road traffic in Flanders, calculating air quality in urban areas and along motorways according to European directives and proposing measures to address exceedances of EU limit values.

In 2003 - 2004, we looked at the immission problems for NOx and particulate matter (PM10) due to road traffic in Flanders for Aminal (now Department LNE). For this, we collaborated with the Dutch TNO-MEP and analysed traffic patterns and associated emissions for 2010.

In this project, air quality in urban environments and along motorways was calculated in accordance with the European Daughter Directive 1999/30/EC. We used, among others, the TNO dispersion model for this purpose. Where exceedances of the EU limit values for 2005 and 2010 appeared, measures were proposed.
