iPark4U

From 2009 to 2010
The iPark4U demonstration project focused on optimising parking in urban areas by integrating innovative technologies such as an on-board unit and smartphone app to provide real-time information on available parking spaces and a payment mechanism. TML was responsible for the process validation and final reporting of the project, in collaboration with VIM.
Due to the structural overload of parking facilities, innovative solutions are gradually emerging. The iPark4U demonstration project responded to this by seeking the pragmatic link between parking and technology. The broad aim of this project was to optimise parking in urban environments through the innovative and creative use of technology, while offering motorists a high-quality parking service.
iPark4U developed a system based on an on-board unit and smartphone with supporting software, whereby information on available parking spaces in public car parks is provided via the in-car navigation, routing to these spaces is provided, and the motorist can pay the parking fee via the navigation system or mobile phone.
In this way, iPark4U becomes a system that combines navigation, parking, and payment in one.
The niche in which iPark4U nestles and in which the project provides a technological innovation involves offering in-car and real-time quality dynamic parking information on the number of available parking spaces in car parks near the destination, with a payment mechanism linked to it.
In this project, TML, in cooperation with VIM, provided the process validation and final reporting.
