From 2015 to 2020
TML carried out throughput calculations from 2015 to 2020 using the Strategic Freight Model Flanders, which describes freight traffic on a daily basis. This model, built in VB.NET and Visum, includes input data for both the base year and future years and contains several sub-models and parameters for detailed analysis.

One of the tools within the Strategic Research cluster of the Traffic Centre (part of the Flemish government - Department of Mobility and Public Works) is the Strategic Freight Model Flanders (abbreviated SVRM VLA). This traffic model is built in VB.NET and Visum and contains four building blocks:
  • Input data on the supply and demand side for the base year (socio-demographic data and networks).
  • Input data on the demand and supply side for the future year (socio-demographic data and networks).
  • Model tools.
  • Parameters for the different sub-models.

This freight transport model describes freight traffic on a daily basis, with modelling of
  • road traffic (trucks),
  • rail transport (block train, dispersed transport, and intermodal transport), and
  • inland navigation (direct and intermodal).

TML did the calculations with the strategic freight model Flanders, from 2015 to 2020.
