This study examines innovations and solutions for a more sustainable mobility system, focusing on their environmental potential and the levers to increase that potential. TML identified and grouped these innovations in Flanders, estimated their environmental potential, and mapped limits and barriers to implementation.

This study provides an overview of innovations and solutions that can contribute to the transition to a more sustainable mobility system, including a discussion of their environmental potential and the levers that can increase that potential. In a first phase, we identified innovations and solutions that can contribute to making mobility in Flanders more ecologically sustainable. We grouped them according to broad solution directions. In this phase, we also took a closer look at the then current state of affairs in Flanders.
In the second phase, we estimated the environmental potential of the different solution directions and groups of innovations. As a final step, we mapped the main limits and barriers for each of the solution directions and for a selection of innovations/solutions. We also determined which levers could eliminate the effects of these barriers.
