TML Talk #19 What is the impact of local traffic measures on air quality?
On Thursday 3 October '24 we held our 19th TML Talk, with air quality will take centre stage.
Commissioned by the Flemish Environment Agency (VMM), VITO and TML examined the impact of some 20 traffic measures on vehicle fleets, traffic flow, and air quality. What is the impact of introducing a school or bicycle street, implementing a cut-off, or establishing one-way traffic? How does air quality evolve when speed limits are lowered or through freight traffic is banned? What is the most suitable emission parameter for monitoring air quality, and do suitable and affordable sensors already exist for this purpose?
Together with Annemie Wynands (VMM), Bart Degraeuwe (VITO), Frans Fierens (IRCEL), and Bruno Van Zeebroeck (TML), we gave you concrete input to work with at local level a week before the local elections.
Colleague Wouter Florizoone introduced the context and speakers and moderated the Q&A session.
