Mobility study for Science Park Campus Diepenbeek

20074
From 2020 to 2022

TML developed a microscopic traffic simulation for the future access to the Diepenbeek campus, analysing four scenarios for the intersections N702 Universiteitslaan - Campuslaan and Campuslaan - Agoralaan. The study included simulations of future traffic flows and optimisation of traffic lights with Vissim and LISA+.

Campus Diepenbeek is in continuous development with several planned expansions. At the request of POM Limburg, we provided insights into the future mobility situation of the Diepenbeek campus. Taking into account the future traffic generation, we simulated four possible access scenarios and weighed them against each other. These scenarios concerned the layout of the intersections N702 Universiteitslaan - Campuslaan and Campuslaan - Agoralaan. Antea and TML jointly provided the technical elaboration of four access scenarios in a second phase of the study. In this section, traffic movements were simulated.

TML made a microscopic traffic simulation of the previously mentioned intersections and scenarios, considering future traffic flows as well as the public transport line Spartacus. TML also supported Antea in the execution of the microsimulations with the Vissim software package and the optimisation of the traffic light arrangements in the future access structure based on an analysis in LISA+ and Vissim.
