TML helped Fietsberaad Vlaanderen prepare a report on the social costs and benefits of cycling, compared to car and public transport. The study led to the publication ‘Fietsbeleid brengt op’ to inform policymakers and citizens.
TML provided substantive support to Fietsberaad Vlaanderen for the development of a cahier on the social costs and benefits of cycling. We clarified these by putting them in relation to the social costs and benefits of the more traditionally studied modes of transport, such as the car or public transport.
We also examined the extent to which these social costs and benefits are internalised in Flanders, with a particular focus on cycling. The result is a very accessible publication "Fietsbeleid brengt op" ("Cycling policy yields"), which aims to better inform policymakers and citizens about their mobility decisions. You will find the publication attached and on the Bicycle Knowledge Database. Earlier, TML also developed a number of sheets with good practices for this knowledge database.
