Sebastiaan Boschmans
ResearcherSebastiaan Boschmans graduated as a civil engineer in mechanical engineering. Because of his interest in topics related to energy and climate change, he chose the option thermotechnical sciences with additional courses in transport economics. Sebastiaan is convinced that the city can be a solution for all kinds of problems, including the mobility and climate issues. Within TML, he therefore focuses on studies and projects related to making cities more sustainable and improving the quality of life, by evaluating existing (mobility) policy and performing impact analyses on policy measures to be implemented. His study work, related to multimodality to make freight and passenger transport more sustainable, falls within the same area of interest. The emphasis is on literature research into policy measures, estimating emissions via data analysis and programming, and performing social cost-benefit analyses.

Remote Sensing Antwerp
TML collected and analysed emission measurements from cars and trucks in the port of Antwerp.

Masterplan Slachthuissite Site Antwerp
TML advised urban developer AG Vespa on the development of a new mobility concept for the Slachthuissite, with a specific focus on parking issues and access to the site.

Study to objectify mobility policy
This study diagnosed the congestion problems in Flanders and Brussels and formulated recommendations for concrete solutions to reduce congestion.

Analysis of the Flemish multimodal nodes
We analysed the main bottlenecks for the development of multimodal nodes for freight transport in Flanders and proposed a plan of action to eliminate them.

Possible supporting measures for estuary navigation, inland navigation, and railways
TML examines which measures are possible for estuary navigation, inland navigation, and railways.

Preparatory research on decarbonising the Belgian maritime sector
The maritime shipping sector is responsible for the highest CO2 emissions in Belgian waters. Decarbonising this sector requires many technical and operational measures. TML carried out a preparatory study.
