The Clean Power for Taxis project aims to have at least 10% of Flemish taxis running on green energy by the end of 2020, as an example for wider transitions to electric mobility. TML studied the profitability of this electrification, the influencing factors, and possible policy measures and formulated scenarios for electrification by 2020.

In the Clean Power for Taxis project, the Bond Beter Leefmilieu and the GTL taxi federation have formulated a strategic objective for the introduction of electric vehicles in the Flemish taxi fleet. The ambition is to have at least 10% of Flemish taxis running on green power by the end of 2020, with interim targets for the intervening years. In doing so, taxis play an exemplary role for a broader transition to 100% electric, shared mobility powered by green energy.

As part of the Clean Power for Taxis project, TML conducted a study on the profitability of electrification of the taxi fleet at company level, the factors that influence profitability, and the policy measures that can increase profitability. We also made an overview of future evolutions in the electric vehicle market. Finally, we formulated scenarios for the electrification of the Flemish taxi fleet by 2020.
